Campus celebrates annual lighting

Hastings College held its annual lighting event on Dec. 2 in front of the French Memorial Chapel. The Lighting of Campus is an tradition held on  campus before finals begin.

Students gathered in the chapel for performances by various HC music groups including the HC jazz band, the student acapella group, SoPe, and the HC choir.

Students then gathered on the stage to listen to President Travis Feezell read “Twas The Night Before Christmas.” When story time ended, students joined together in singing Christmas carols.

Following the singing, attendees went outside to join Santa Claus, Gaynor Watson, in the countdown to the lighting of campus. Once the lever was pulled, all of the lights on campus turned on, propelling HC into the Christmas season.

Following the lighting of the campus, students had hot chocolate and cookies. Many took pictures with Santa and with friends in front of the illuminated trees.
