After reviewing how to best conduct Honors Convocation and Commencement amidst campus closure, a decision was made to hold both events online via streaming services and social media with an in-person Commencement celebration also scheduled for the fall in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend.
The decision was announced in an email sent to students from Dr. Barbara Sunderman, vice president for academic affairs, noting that the shift to the online streamings was unprecedented however made given circumstances related to the COVID-19 virus pandemic.
The email also included that arrangements are being planned to continue Commencement traditions even though it will be hosted online.
Honors Convocation is scheduled to be streamed on May 5 at 5 p.m. and Commencement scheduled to be streamed on May 16 at 10 a.m., both hosted on Hastings College’s Facebook page and on YouTube.
According to the email, details regarding the in-person Commencement celebration during Homecoming Weekend scheduled for Sept. 25 – 27 will be announced this summer.
